The Relaxing Scenery of Mt. Kanayaw and Nangan-Nangan Falls

Mount Kanayaw is a part of a range of mountain in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur. It has an elevation of 3,227 ft / 982.98 MASL. As a part of the 8th Pasalamat Mountain Festival (January 25-26, 2014) – A yearly climb hosted by a mountainering club in Pagadian City, PAPA (Pundok sa Aktibong Pagadianong Adventurero). During the event we have exploited the beauty of Mount Kanayaw and Nangan-nangan Falls, strictly to our eyes only.

We've boarded a dump-truck for 2 hours to reach Lison Valley, a valley as beautiful as paradise. The funny part was on the way up to Lison Valley, half of our strength and energy was already depleted by the terrifying dump-truck ride. But it’s all worth it, the beauty of the mountain way up was so majestic and breathtaking. Honestly, I never expected to see such a beauty and self-fulfillment on this climb.

We started our trek at 2:30 and reach the peak of Mout Kanayaw at exactly 5:30 PM. We have all the chance to see the amazing sunset over Sibuguey Bay and beautiful Wood Lake of Lakewood.

I really want to extend my endless thanks to the host for the successful event and a very warm accommodation, and also to the newly created friendships during this climb.

Guiban Falls and Balabag Peak- The Mystical Beauty of Conception

The 18th Malindang Ascent offers the mystical beauty of Mount Balabag and Guiban Falls, situated in the municipality of Conception, Misamis Occidental.

During this event I have all the time and opportunity to exploit the flora and fauna of Mount Balabag and Guiban Falls. Unfortunately, I missed to capture the wild orchids - my camera batteries gone empties.

One of the best features in the area was the hospitality of the Subanen people, one of the most friendly indigenous people I've personally met.

Guiban Falls is a waterfall located in the heart of Brgy. Guiban, Conception, Misamis Occidental. It is estimated to be 25 meters high. The waterfalls is feed by the abundant green lush of Mount Balabag.

Kalubihon Hidden Cave and Waterfalls

Aiming to visit the 23 waterfalls of Iligan City. This time we've decided to visit the three renowned waterfalls of Iligan City. It is located in Brgy. Dalipuga, Iligan City. At first, we felt disappointed on what we saw, almost all of the minor waterfalls along the way are washed-out and damaged by the devastating and deadly Typhoon Sendong last December 2011.

First jump is Dalipuga Falls, it is just a small waterfall with and inviting pool which offered us a cool and suiting experience on our way up to the next destinations, Pampam Falls and Kalubihon Falls. We are very unlucky to missed taking pictures on both waterfalls.

For almost two hours of trekking up the stream we reached Kalubihon cave which offered again an inviting crystal clear and fresh ice cold water from Kalubihon Falls, right above the small opening of the cave.

How To Get There:

From Iligan City Proper

It will only cost less than 100 pesos each person, good for one way.

Just take a jeepney bound for Dalipuga (just tell the driver you'll drop to crossing Kalubihon)

City proper to Dalipuga (crossing Kalubihon - (Php 14.00 - Php 16.00)
